Right on our doorstep!

We often forget how lucky we are at Wainui Beach School.  These children have one of the best natural playgrounds literally over the road!

Open Day in Room 11

Room 11's Open day was fantastic!  We loved having the class buzzing with all of our whanau.  The children were so excited to be sharing and celebrating their learning with you all.  It was such a success and the children and I think we will have to organise another one next term.  Also thank you for all the lovely positive comments! We too appreciate all the support you have offered us throughout the year.  Here are some of the photo's I took of a few of the families that attended our open day!  (Next time I'll make sure to try and get around everyone).

Documenting our learning using the i-pads

One of the ways we use the i-pads in Room 11 is to document our learning.  The children especially like doing this during PBL.  Have a look at some of the great photos they have taken of their learning and listen to Isabelle's fantastic commentary!

Earth Guardians

Room 11 have decided to be 'Earth Guardians' as part of our Actions speak louder than words topic  We talked about ways we can look after our planet.  We came up with many fantastic ideas like, picking up rubbish, recycling, using re-usable bags, caring for animals, rubbish free lunch boxes.  Room 11 children are very motivated to be Earth Guardians.  What an amazing bunch of 5 and 6 year olds!

We made Earth Guardians necklaces out of clay and then painted them.  We also wrote about the process in our writing books!  Please come and have a read whanau.

Action day

Bee Bombs

‘The hum of the bee is the voice of the garden’.

Bees are having a hard time in the world today.
We need to help our little friends because they help us in lots of ways.
We can give back and help the bees by ensuring they have enough food.

In Room 11 we are making Bee Bombs.  These are dirt bombs filled with flower seeds.
The dirt/compost bombs have everything in them they need to grow.

Thanks whanau for all the seed donations! 😀

Alex brought in these seeds especially made for
bees!

Getting organised and very excited!  We watched a you tube video about why we need bees in our world.

Getting our hands dirty

Kneading, rolling, squeezing.  So many motor skills used today!

Natalie taking her bee bomb creating very seriously!

  A perfect bee bomb!

Rolling in the sunshine.

Happy Jackson.  Loving his mahi.

We all had a turn of making the bee balls and we all got very dirty.

We decorated little bags (donated again by whanau!  Thanks we are so lucky)

So proud!

Messy fun!

Concentration!

Our Bee bombs drying in the sun! Wow what a busy morning. We had the best time making our Bee bombs and helping our friends ' the bees'!
Whanau come into class and read our fantastic writing that we completed after!

Box Construction Chaos

"Logic will take you from A to B.  Imagination will take you everywhere" - Albert Einstein

Born to Move

The Room 11 children were lucky enough to have Wendy from 'Born to Move' come and work with them for 30 minutes.  She incorporated dance, stretching, kick boxing, yoga and breathing in her lesson.  The Room 11 children absolutely loved it and so did the parents that joined in.  In Room 11 the children are very passionate about dancing and exploring their bodies and boundaries.  This was a perfect morning for these little people!  A huge thanks to Julie (Room 11 parent) for organising this.  Room 11 has the best parent support!
